What size is the dash speaker?

That's about right. The one LMC sells is pretty much direct fit. The fiber cushion, spacer what ever they call it, needs to b.e 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick. Otherwise the center of the speaker will contact the dash.

Just went through this. Its not a standard 5x7. Seems more like a 4.5 x 6.5 but depends where you measure from. I was able to shoehorn a 5x7 in my 77 but had to modify the speaker and the opening slightly around the offset. Not visible once the grille is on but I don't know if I would do that again knowing what I know now.....but had already bought the speaker so made it work. Maybe someone will have a guaranteed plug and play solution but I hadn't seen one with a little searching.
