I know I bookmarked the thread... but it went away... Mustang sending unit is 70-10 ohms.. Need recommendations for a 6 gauge set that will work with that sender... also that does not require a reverse mortgage

Hi John,
You should be able to get whatever set of gauges that suits your desired look and still get the fuel level gauge in 70-10 ohms
I have a set of gauges that the fuel level gauge didn't match my sending unit, so I ordered the correct one, and will sell the one I have that isn't right.
Your truck and talent are so above mine, that I wouldn't begin to suggest a set of gauges for your truck. What are the gauges going into? picture? billet aluminum?

I have auto meter gauges for my 49. I called them and I was told they don't have a set that is offered with a gauge that works with a mustang tank. Jeff has the right Ideal.
I used the mustang tank and sending unit in my 52. My modern gauge set is from New Vintage. They fit the standard opening in the 52 dash as I didn't want to cut that up at all.
If you contact them directly and tell them what ohm range sending unit you have they will build you a set of gauges with the proper fuel gauge.
Very nice people to deal with and they back their products.
Hey John,
Probably several different ways to skin that cat. We used the '70 Mustang tank in our '50 F1. Our solution was
to buy (2) sending units - needed the '70 Mustang unit to use their fairly unique fuel pickup. We then clipped off the
sending unit bit & soldered on a universal unit that had the right ohms for our gauges.
I do recall that someone posted info. about an adjustable one from Speedway that could be dialed in to match your ohms.
I hate it when I lose something. In this case it is a gauge set that included a sending unit that was matched to the gauge. They were really inexpensive and came in white or black faces. But like I said, I cannot find the page for it. If I do, I'll reply again.
Dakota Digital has a set and are adjustable for all sending units, planning a switching out the gauges in my panel some time in the future and will be using them..
John if you’re using the stock Guage you can get an adapter to change the signal to match your guage.
Yeah that is really cool! Didn't know such an item existed! For $108 that would take care of some serious head scratching. I just spent $50 on a gauge that matches my new sender..that also would allow use of the original fuel gauge with whatever you decided to use. Nice!
