I know someone has already invented the wheel, so....
My daughter bought a not all there 50 or 51 F-1 , not sure. Has 302 V-8 and C4. Installed a crossmember and engine mount kit. Did the front brake conversion and rear brakes standard.
Question. There is no way I'm putting a gas tank in the cab. I don't want the fill in the bed. Who makes a tank to mount underneath and bring out a fill neck on one side or the other? I'm sure someone has solved thi one already. Welding and fabrication no problem here. Suggestions?
Going through the same thing.
I'm running EFI. so the 1995 Chevy G series full size van. 22 gallon tank. Exits driver side. Need to notch the frame. Filler in the fender.
Running a carb, same vehicle but older.
look for "droptopss" username. I'm following him on the gas tank. Sorry so short. At work and on my phone.
I have read in this Forum that an early Mustang 70-73 I believe fuel tank will mount in the frame between the rear end and the rear frame rail. The post also mentioned that he got it from Rock Auto for 120.00 or so. Check ben73058 or 1949f1

here is a pic of the notch in the frame for filler hose I had better pic but they are gone? I got this one from daves(drptopss70) build #2 page 8
if you use the chevy tank the filler is at the rear of the tank and by moving the rear xmember allows it to set back enough to miss the stock spring perch notice too the right in pic
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the same setup. ordered this weekend. tank, sending unit, fuel pump, and the matching fuel gauge.
What fittings will I need for the fuel lines to pump connections? Never dealt with the Chevy fittings. I'm assuming quick connects, just don't know what ones.
I can figure it out eventually, but I thought I would ask.

I used the fuel lines from the donor e250 I think dave used hard lines? That’s why I put the page number of his post in the previous so it just depends on the type of lines

So the Ford quick connects fit the Chevy tank??? How cool is that!
Hey Dan,
Welcome Aboard! I share your desire to move the gas tank out of the cab. We have a 1950 F1 & it came with the
stock tank in the cab.... It smelled horrible & you could just hear gas sloshing around next to you... nope. We went with Jniolin's
approach to mounting a Mustang tank between the rails out back under the bed. We used the '70 Mustang 22 gallon tank - giving us 38% more range than the stock 16 gallon tank. We did buy it off of Rock Auto for around $125 plus the sender.
Our's is mounted to come up in the wood bed with a boat filler cap - works great. The only negative is if you are hauling stuff - you need to fill up first.
Picture my 24 year old son holding the couch up in the air so I can fill the tank.....
Getting the sending unit to talk to your Gas gauge needs to be well thought out.
We used Autometer's classic Ford Gauges - needing 0-200 ohm's coming from the sending unit.
We used the stock sending unit for the '70 Mustang Tank to get the fuel pickup to work easily..we then soldered a cheap universal 0-200 ohm
sending unit onto it to talk to our gas gauge.
Good luck over there in Britain...... we really love not sitting next to the gas & the big increase in range
so you don't have to fill up so often.

the fuel pump in the tank was a Chevy but ford had a tank between the forward pump and pump in the tank that helps with surging so I had the stock computer and the fuel pressure was ok for the computer all off the e250
