Any one tried installing a pop and lock remote tail gate lock on an Australian F250? I am trying to install one and all has gone well up to the point of the electrical connections. The instructions that come with the pop and lock kit PL8250 say that you have to find a red wire with green trace and a red/pink wire with orange trace behind the kick panel on either side.
I can find the pink wire with orange trace (it is an earth), but not the red wire with green trace. I can find a pink wire with black trace and pink wire with green trace, but no red wire with green trace.
Anybody got any ideas? I have thought of taking off the door panel and seeing what wires go to the lock actuator.
I eventually just connected up the pink with black trace wire (which is the wire the supplied instructions say should be used for the 2004-2007 model) and now it locks ok, but does not unlock.
So there must be another wire there which I am supposed to use rather than the pink with orange trace, because the pink with orange trace is obviously a fixed earth and cannot have its polarity reversed for unlock.
Worked it out. The other wire is a pure red wire of the same thickness as the pink wire with black stripe. Now both lock and unlock of the tail gate work using the remote.
Hi Larry, good to see you worked out the issue, it always helps when others are doing a google for the same thing, i was thinking of getting one, i didn't know they were central locking, makes it even more tempting. Where in qld are you?
