'15 F250 6.7 Erroneous dash warnings are out of control
The truck currently has about 68,000 miles on it.
About six months ago I was in a parking lot and the dash started flashing all sorts of warnings so I shut the engine off. Waited a few seconds, turned the key, engine starts and everything is normal.
Then, about two or three months ago it did the same thing so I shut the engine off, waited a bit, turned the key and got nothing. The last thing I wanted to do was have the truck towed to a dealer because it was Sunday night and I was about 200 miles from home.
So I let it sit for about ten minutes, turned the key and it started. CEL stayed on for about 150 miles and then went away.
When I got home I jumped on the internet and learned about the wiring harness that is clipped to the parking brake bracket so I took it off and zip-tied it to something above it.
I use the heck out of my parking brake. Any time I am on any sort of grade I set the brake and I spend a lot of time on boat ramps so I use it there too.
When I release the brake, I release the brake. Didn't know I had to *****foot the brake release on this truck that Ford calls Superduty.
So, life went on and somewhere along the line the horn stopped working. I didn't use it much but I did miss it when it was gone but I didn't want to dig into the steering wheel to fix it so I installed a little air horn and wired it through the #1 upfitter switch.
Two weeks ago the "low tire pressure" light came on and it has been warning me every time I start the truck ever since then.
About a week ago the "driver door ajar" warning started popping up and now it is a constant thing.
Before I can drive away I have to deal with all of these erroneous warnings and wait for the interior light to go off.
I believe all of these things are related to that clump of wires that was connected to the parking brake bracket. I don't trust the vehicle anymore.
No, I did not waste my time going to the dealer because it is the kind of problem that would generate a "can't recreate the problem so we have no solution" and I don't have time for that.
I know I'm not the first to experience these things.
Is there a real fix for it yet?
Have you returned to that brake pedal wiring harness to see if it needs attention? Clean it or make sure everything is tight? Take it apart and put it back together sometimes fixes things.
I have wiggled it around a little bit but that's about it.
It is really hard to get my head in there to see it. I guess it would be easier if I took the driver's seat out and laid on my back. Of course, I am reluctant to take it apart but I guess that is the next step.
Yes, I have done a search and read the threads on the subject. I already moved the section of harness off of the parking brake bracket.
I have not had another complete failure like the one I had a few months ago. Now it's just the constant warnings about low tire pressure and driver door ajar.
The biggest problem with this is the fact that now I don't trust anything the truck tries to tell me. Not only have I lost faith in this truck, I have lost faith in the Ford Motor Co. because this problem has existed for several years and they haven't fixed it. They just keep telling everyone how tough their trucks are.
I have a 2016 SD & just started experiencing this problem a couple of weeks ago. It is at the dealership for the second time know & I started searching the forums. Thanks for posting on this. I will follow the other thread down that rabbit hole & see where it takes me.
The TPMS warning may be real. I got a tire pressure sensor error message recently and found out 3 out of 4 sensors weren't doing anything when the tire shop held their TMPS scanner next to the wheels. You don't want to know how much it cost to install 4 new sensors.
My 2013 has had the same issues with the wire harness on the parking brake causing all sorts of bogus warnings like the famous Hill Descent Control Fault.

Good to know. The first two times this happened, I didn't get TPMS faults, but I did yesterday. I'll make sure they check them separately.
I took the driver's seat out today so I could lie on my back and get my head under the dash and take a closer look.
Behind the parking brake bracket there is another plug/harness that accepts the wires coming from the door. I'm wondering if that is the source of the "driver door ajar" warning I am getting every time I start the truck. I can't get to it because the bracket is in the way. I didn't want to remove the bracket today but I might do that when I have more time.
The dealership is still holding my truck. They want to get a Ford engineer involved. They claim that they still haven't been able to replicate the issue (my guess is he tried the parking brake once, if that). They also claim that they checked the harness connection & that it was solid.
