Hi Everyone and Thank You for your help.
2015 F350 6.2, 4 door 8' bed FX4...... 17,200 miles.
This morning when outside to start it (nice sunny morning) and turned the key and all the dash lights went on and also went crazy. Said it had all kind of problems on the dash, Trac system, Over heating and so on. The starter did not crank over at all. Tried this about 8 times in 45 minutes, no worky. Call Ford, they towed it to the dealer. I last drove it 2 days ago. All stock, no programmer.
This is a well known problem. But not to dealership mechanics. I had it happen to the 2013 I drive.
There is a plug in the wiring harness that mounts to the parking brake pedal assembly. The shock of using the parking brake & releasing it loosens this connection. This causes the dash to go crazy, & in some cases, the truck to not start. The cure is to remove the harness from the parking brake assembly & tie it up elsewhere. You'll also want to wiggle the connector to make sure it is tight & making good contact.
The 2013 I drive started doing this every couple thousand miles, then every couple of days. The fix outlined above took care of it. It hasn't happened again in 70,000 miles.
If you do a search for dash going crazy you'll find some other threads on the subject.
I agree this is a wiring harness problem. I have seen them go bad in the dash along with at the e-brake. Ford has used crappy harnesses and these problems consistently pop up on SD's.
Thank you all for your reply's.
Now I have a direction to go in.
It's at the dealer today and tonight.
I'm willing to bet that in the morning "the dealer can not duplicate the problem".
I will let you guys know what happens,
Thanks again, Robert.
Did you pick it up yet? Did you give the dealer the info on the harness by the parking brake? I'd be pulling my truck out of their toot sweet before they do anymore 'stress testing' of the starting system.
Several of us have had this problem. Most trace it back the the connector mounted to the parking brake bracket. Run a search and you should find a couple of threads.
Dealers have been of minimal help. Bottom line on fix is to take the connector off the parking brake bracket, open it up, check it and reconnect it. If all is working well, secure the connector from the wires above the parking brake bracket with a wire tie so the vibration of putting the brake off and on does not cause a connection problem.
Tracing the problem has been a pain because when the truck is towed the parking brake is usually activated and when the driver or dealer releases the brake all is magically well.

Whoops, I didn't see you had already spelled everything out long before I did. 👍🏻
If you feel like getting the dealer involved with a warranty claim, have someone sit with you while you apply and release the parking brake a few dozen times. If nobody has disturbed the harness you'll be able to reproduce it in a few minutes. Was it roll backed to the dealer? If so the tow truck applied the parking brake and released it making the truck start again. Been down that road, I was the one who backed mine off the roll back at the dealer. If you want it fixed right just pull the harness back yourself. I'm still gun shy, I have my foot on the pedal when I release the parking brake just so it doesn't slam.

I do the same even though I relocated the connector. Every once in a while my wife moves the truck and let's the parking brake slam. I cringe!

Know this is old thread but my 2016 is now problematic. Started with just backup camera issue frequently then stack went out. Now truck wouldn’t start at gas station after fillip.
wiggled harness next to parking brake and truck starts. I complained to dealer about this but usuall ain’t broke can’t fix
I had a 2015 F350 6.2 with the same exact problem. I accidentally popped the parking brake a little too hard. it was started already and then it died on me. Towed it to the dealer and they did what was said a couple of posts above. Never had the problem after that .
