I know its leaking from the gasket of the upper oil pan. My question is to just replace the gasket or the entire pan assy? Some have said the pan warps over time. Im at 208k and plan to replace it myself.
I have yet to read on any forums about upper oil pan problems with warping. That doesn't mean there aren't any but I would ask other mechanics that deal with the 6.7 to verify this is a problem or not. Maybe even ask on other 6.7L forums.
FYI...According to the Ford Workshop DVD, to replace the upper pan requires removing the FLEX PLATE. Which means the transmission has to be removed or at least re-positioned for access to the flex plate bolts.

I've never heard of one warping. The upper pan is a serious hunk of aluminum and is a structural piece. They are a pain to remove and reseal. Like's been said you have to pull the transmission (which is the easy part) in order to reseal it. While you're there you should also replace your rear main seal. You will also need gaskets for the oil cooler, oil filter housing and lower oil pan. Good luck
Just wanted to add some info to this thread. I thought I had a minor upper oil pan leak for a while now. It was getting worse recently and I finally got it in for a diagnosis while it needed an oil change anyways. It ended up it was leaking from the timing cover. 12hrs and 3 days in the shop to fix, had to pull the trans, flex plate, upper oil pan and most of the front end. Rads out, the whole deal. Pretty big job, truck got all new gaskets for everything that was apart, and they even threw the oil change in for free as they needed to drop the pan to fix the leak. Truck is a fully deleted 15 btw, still some good dealers out there.
Just had my 2016 done, just turned 43k. It's been leaking for the last 10k. Like mentioned the trans has to come out. The dealership had it for 16 days.
Curious of ballpark $$ this cost you. I have an '11 with 260k on it that also in need of this job. Have reached out to some local shops and apparently no one wants to tackle it because they never get back with me.

I have a ‘15 F-350 6.7 with 171k mikes that has an upper oil pan leak. I have noticed the leak for the past 10k mikes. Ford wants $2000 and my independent PS guy wants $1300 to pull the cab and then pull the engine. I 1/2 way want to do it in my driveway. For my edification, can the upper pan be dropped without pulling the engine? I will get a trans lift or a engine hoist, but either of these tools may cost more than the dealer. If I pull the engine out the front, everything in front of the engine, off the top of the engine, and in the bay needs to be removed. I have plans to replace fluids, thermostats, hoses, pulleys, and belts while in there. Who has done this? Isn’t there an OP that has pulled engines in his driveway?
I had what started as small leak from what appeared to be a fwd oil pan. It very quickly turned into a serious constant steady drip.

when it goes. It goes quick. I lost several quarts just driving 20 miles to parts store for more oil.

I had the leak and I consider myself a decent mechanic. but there is no way I would tackle this one. What would you do if it started to leak again. If the dealer does it than they would fix it again on there dime. It's a big job and I am not sure there is a single kit you can get to do this job.

The transmission and transfer case have to be removed to get to the upper oil pan. The engine does not have to be removed to service the upper oil pan.
