my 2016 with only 17000 miles started knocking yesterday. Took it straight to the dealership they can't look at it until Monday. The mechanic I left my keys with said he heard me drive in and it might be an exhaust leak. I'm not a diesel expert but I'm almost positive this is not an exhaust leak. I've read through some of the posts saying what the problem could be but haven't found any that stated what there problem actually was and what the fix was. Would love to hear if anybody has worked all the way through this problem what there problem was and what the dealer did to fix it.
Interested in outcome, did you happen to capture it with video or sound?
I was around quite a few 7.3s when I first picked that one up, now seems no one I know has a 6.7, so while I know what mine sounds like, really have nothing to compare too. I swear it has a different idle sound.
I just experienced a loud knocking sound on my 2011 6.7L w/40K miles. I had never heard this before and it scared the crap out of me. I have an appointment soon so I am interested in following this thread. I noticed it mostly after starting up after waiting at a light. It would knock like crazy until I let off the accelerator pedal. Then if I proceeded slowly it subsided. Yesterday while going about 60 mph it started knocking and shaking the front end so severe I thought I had a blowout or a flat. It went away after I let off the accelerator again. I wonder if I have a batch of bad diesel. Of course my Extended Warranty expires the day after my appointment!!!

Only 40k and already out of “extended†warranty? That’s not very extended! Also, don’t these motors have 100k warranty?
