Holley 1850-1 (4160). With Ca. fuel additives find I am having to rebuild the Holley 1850's carburetors on both 65's usually every 4-5 years. Recently rebuilt the 1850-1 on the 390 only to find the set screw for the secondary base throttle plate is frozen so unable to adjust. I have a couple spare throttle plates and wondered if any member's know, or can refer me to a chart as to which throttle base plates are interchangeable with this 1850-1 carburetor?
Disregard: Appears 1 of the throttle base plates will work, came across plate on ebay where item description same/similar. thanx.

Question whether I can replace the R12-1856 throttle base plate with the R12-5204? Swapped throttle plates but in starting the engine it attempted to run for a few seconds but then became interesting, fire coming out the primary throttle plate and backfiring. Not sure if due to error in rebuild, or throttle plate not correct for application?
Ok.....if I may suggest, Typically the carb rebuild "kits" are crap- either missing critical parts or the parts don't fit or are of poor quality. What I have done that has worked very well for me is to go to a carb rebuilding shop and ask them to put a "kit" together for me. The cost was around $50 but every part was there, fit correctly and worked!!!!
There is really no reason to have to rebuild your carb with that frequency...I do use Marvel Mystery Oil which helps keeps the parts lubed up....but make sure that your gasket kits are for "alcohol-fuels', then there should be few to any issues.
Being that your in Calif, here is where I purchase all of my carbs pieces, etc...

Over the years, for what ever reason, I tend to keep the excess rebuild kit parts that are of no use, now is the time to recycle. I Will can them. I thank you for the information!!
