I just noticed this problem and can't get the interior dome light to turn off (or the smaller interior lights over the doors), I tried lubricating all hinges with wd40 and opened/closed each door, truck lid, rear window, hood a dozen times or so and lights won't turn off. I tried the obvious of switching the dome light on and off multiple times still nothing, they keep staying on.
The door ajar light on the dash is OFF and working properly, turns on when I open a door and turns off when door is closed like supposed to.
I tried disconnecting the battery but that didn't work either.
Has anyone else had this problem? What else could I try? Please help I would very much appreciate it!
Thank you for the reply! I took relay 1 out from inside the dash and the lights went out! What does that mean? The relay was quite warm to the touch compared to all the other ones if that matters in any way.
That is the interior lights relay. So now you know the issue is with the relay itself or the circuit that keeps it turned on. I had you pull it also so you could get the lights off and save your battery. Only the GEM or the main light switch can turn that relay on. Access the main switch (headlight) and disconnect all of the connectors to it with the interior relay plugged back in. If the interior lights go out the main switch is the problem. If the lights stay on the GEM is. Obviously do this testing with all of the doors closed and the main switch off.
