Where I suspect hose might go Hose I found Where hose comes from on firewall, below the ground wire.
I have a 2004 Expedition w/ 4.6. I was getting started on on a tune up today and I noticed a vacuum line just sitting on top on the left valve cover ( if stand in front of the SUV) . I did a little investigating and noticed when the AC is on it creates a vacuum and when it's off there is no vacumm. It's a gray hose coming out of the firewall. I did notice a spot where it could go on a mechanism that closes and shuts . Any ideas of where it goes or could it go where I suspect it goes ? I provided 3 pictures . One is of the hose I found , one is where the hose comes from and the other is where I think the hose might go . I just don't want to put it on the wrong part. Any info would be very helpful .. thanks!
The hose goes to the heater valve in the first picture. When on Max A/C vacuum is applied to valve to stop the flow of coolant through the heater core so that you get air out of the vents that is a few degrees cooler.

Ok great .. that's what I thought ... Just wanted to make sure ... Thanks for the info .
Yep, that hose often gets knocked off the valve when work is done in that area. Usually you'll notice that you lose airflow at the A/C vents under acceleration too. That's the first hose I check anytime there's a vacuum issue.
