Engine together, braided ground strap question

My BIL and I got the other head on today on my 54. We were held up because we had to get out the water temp threaded plug from my old head. So we got everything back together.

But I do not remember were the braided ground strap is mounted on the engine. I thought it was on the left head or I would not have had to remove it. Or does it go on the block?

Thanks. Will give a report after I get it running.

Ground Strap

Really doesn't matter. Either is ok. I personally would put it on the block if I had a convenient location to attach it.

And that is my question, where was it originally? I don't remember where exactly it was attached.

Abe I can't help you on original location but someone that can will need to know which strap are you talking about. There is one from the engine to the frame and one from the head to the cab. My strap from the head to the cab is bolted in one of the holes next to the water temp sending unit and to one of the 3 bolts that attach the throttle mechanism to the cab.

Head to cab ground strap.

Thanks BJ and Dave! That is exactly what I needed to know. I knew it went to one of the accelerator pedal mounting bolts but could not see not remember where it went on the head. I bagged and labelled all the bolts I took off while doing this work but I can not find the bolt for the strap. I'll just get another one.

Dave, I took my strap off completely and soaked it in a solution of brake fluid and kerosene to clean the grease and oil and grime off of it.

Thanks!

Don't use a very long bolt as that hole in the head is open and if you put too long of a bolt it will hit the push rod
