Transverse 3.8 vs. standard-block?

Quick question: Does the transverse mount (front wheel drive) 3.8 have a canted bell housing mounting arrangement? I know the 3.0's have a canted mounting arrangement in fwd cars that differs from the standard "longitudinal" mounted engines used in Rangers and other red platforms. Is this true of the 3.8 also or did Ford alter the transaxle bell housing instead to avoid casting two different blocks?

I did a google search and it appears bell to engine patterns are different. RWD has the SBF pattern, FWD has Vulcan V6 pattern.

Ford's list of bell patterns reveals some maniacal force within the company.

Not surprised. I do see the merit in avoiding a "one size fits all" mentality like GM used for so long. That leaves nothing really and truly designed for its purpose. However, Ford could have kept things a little simpler. This is my only real gripe with the company.
