I bought a 05 Navi from auction that had misfire and all the camshaft position codes (340,344,345,349) codes. I bought new battery and Ford supposedly check the alternator via the TSB procedures for bad diode. In the past I would get misfire codes and the P0344, P0345,P0349 codes. After getting suspension work and new battery no more misfire codes. But I did get the codes in the title incl the new U0100 (Lost Communication with ECM/PCM code and P0158 (O2 Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 2) which were new codes I never got before. The truck drove fine and I reset it then read the codes the next day which were P0340, P0344, P0345, P0349, P2270 (O2 sensor signal stuck lean bank 1 sensor 2), P2272 (O2 sensor signal stuck lean bank 2 sensor 2)
Again the engine runs fine with no misses or abnormal sounds and gets 21 mpg on the highway. I took it back to Ford who says the tech don't know and maybe engine is bad.
Sounds like someone who is too lazy to troubleshoot and just throws out the worst case. I highly doubt you need a new engine if it runs fine and you get 21 mpg on it. I do think you might need a new mechanic though.
I agree and this dealership is the best of 4 that I have tried. I will continue to drive it until I figure something out or maybe find an independent shop that is well versed in Ford issues.
