I've decided to tackle some of the issues I've been having with my 2001 F-150 5.4L XLT. There is one issue that I haven't been able to solve yet, though. When I start the engine, I get a really bad hesitation for the first like, 1 to 2 minutes then it clears up and seems fine. On occasion I'll get a flattening out of acceleration then I have to floor the gas till it clears up which is usually right away. The engine starts great and shuts off great.
A little background of the weekend:
I had a bunch of codes of read and I addressed the easy ones. I had an Air temp sensor error which I replaced as well as the cam shaft position sensor. When I did that, the engine quieted down a bit. Before I did that, it shaked pretty badly on start. I had to let it warm up for about 2 minutes before I could drive it. It almost stalled but never did. I thought it would clear up the hesitation issues but didn't.
I wanted to get the codes cleared after I did the work but no one was open on a Sunday so I don't know which codes cleared or what new codes have come up.
I would sure appreciate some help before I take it to a mechanic and spend a ton to get it resolved. Any ideas?
Addressing the easy codes doesn't get you all the way. Any misfire codes? What other codes are you getting? Pretty easy to burn up a still save-able motor within 1,000 miles with a bad coil pack.

I haven't had any misfire codes at all. I think the only other code (and I can't remember the number) was "heated O2 sensor bank 1". I've looked at the positioning of the coil packs and there's no way I can do those with my terrible back.
Do you think an O2 sensor can cause a sluggish response to acceleration?
It could be a wiring harness issue to the O2 sensor. It could also just be a burned out O2 sensor, and be as easy as swapping it out. I have had both scenarios happen.
