When I hook up a trailer with a 7 pin connector my Park Assist Module does not shut off by itself. So whenever I put the combo in reverse the PAM is going full blast until I switch it off. It would however be nice if I can avoid that step (it has woken a sleeping baby several times now and mom is not amused anymore...).
Do I have a wire issue here or should I run some sort of bypass on the connector or plug.
Is it a 2003 ? 'Cause they hate trailers back there LOL. On a '03, fuse 27 will kill the back up aid module, but it also kills a few other nice-to-have features. You can unplug the module, located behind the panel where the left-rear passenger seat belt bolts down ( left A-pilar...). Just depends what your priorities are.
It's a 2006. Sorry - should have mentioned that. Should there not be a feature that understands that there is a trailer hooked up? Seems odd to me that the computer would not have that built in...
It's annoying, but you can just hit the "Reset" button on the dash behind the right side of the steering wheel and it disables the reverse sensors until you put it back into drive again. Not sure most people know about that feature...
yes - I know about that feature but the issue is that when I need to pull gas or something and the baby is asleep, then the next time I start the car and reverse, the speaker goes off again (even for a short moment) which will wake the baby.
I know this sounds futile to some and I apologize but I really do have the opinion that Ford should have made it so that the speaker gets overruled when a trailer is hooked up... Just my feeling on it...
If you have a digital/menu driven cluster you can turn off the backup aid in there. Read about it in the "Driver Controls" section of your owner's manual.
