reverse?

reverse?
when i put the gear selector in reverse with a trailer hucked up to the truck the brake controller applies full braking and cant back the trailer up without unplugging the cord from the truck, even with it unplugged and the truck in reverse the brake controller goes from full brake to green like the trailer plug is still plugged into the outlet.....my ? is should i start looking for trouble at the rear of the truck at the trailer plug outlet or some where else where the brake controller and the reverse circuit share a common location?.....thanks for any help. aslo this i on my 99 PSD dully with auto trans.....thanks again.

The controller has worked great in the truck since 99 when the truck was new, it does the same thing with all 4 of my trailers now. With no trailer hooked to the truck and the truck in reverse the green light on the controller comes on like a trailer is hooked up to the truck. Last year i had to jump the 12v lead out of the fuse box under the hood, the 12v lead has a short inside the fuse box. just wandering if this is also where my current problem may lie.....thanks.
