EFI manifold for 300 I6

I was wondering if anyone could answer a question. I have a 1978 300 I6 and I was looking to install the EFI exhaust manifolds, what year range should I be looking for? Are they a direct fit with my current stock intake? And which exhaust gasket would I use, 78 or year of EFI donor? Thanks

You can get the manifolds from any fuel injected 300. So '87 - '96. Plentiful in junkyards. They are a direct bolt on. Gaskets are the same as far as I know. You need to pull the intake as well since they share the same gasket and bolts. While you have it all off install grade 8 studs and ditch the bolts, makes installation so much easier.

I plan on doing this to my 81 F100 and I went with the 81 gaskets because on line the 2 years looked different.

Now how are you going to heat the intake manifold? The exhaust manifold bolts to the intake to heat it. There are plates to run heater hose to that bolts to the bottom of the intake.

Also what you doing for pipes off the EFI manifolds? You can't get just the Y pipe, it only comes with the cat.
Could have a shop make up pipes I guess.

The only problem with converting to EFI, factory style is the control module. go with clifford intake for the 4 barrle pattern, get the performance headers, then go with one of the new EFI carb setups, like MSD, Fast or the new one in LMC. they are easy to install, and most are self tuning.

Read the inline 6 forum, there is a permanent thread at the top of the forum. Some folks do without, but the majority seem to bolt an adapter to the bottom of the intake manifold and run hot water from a heater hose through it. I bought mine from Dave at Hollister Rd. machine shop in Houston, been lazy and have ot installed it yet. Additional note - I believe I read where when installing the EFI manifolds you may have to grind a little on the ears of one or the other manifolds for everything to fit.
