so my first fill of DEF is coming up. Are you guys paying the 30$/2.5 gal motorcraft wants????

is all DEF created equal??? Walmart has def $8.99/2.5 gal. Peak blue def sells for $10/2.5 gal. Valvoline for 12$

They are all 32.5% Urea.....

DEF is DEF as long as it is major brand and relatively fresh. It does degrade over time. I've bought a lot of DEF at Wally World over the years.

Red how many miles do you have on your truck? I'm at 1,800 and my DEF still reads full.

Towing heavy, I was due for DEF right before 5k miles. I am skeptical that my dealer did not fill it entirely.

They say def usage is dictated by fuel mileage, so the more you tow the more you'll use .. i haven't towed anything heavy yet

DEF usage is dependent upon exhaust temps. Nitrous Oxide (?) is caustic and produced at high temps like when you're towing. The DEF woks as a catalyst to convert the NO into inert gasses. If you tow a lot, you use more DEF.

I typically have the dealer refill it at oil change time. In a few hundred more miles, I'll be at 5k and will have the oil changed. Right now, DEF is less than 1/4 and I'm expecting the warnings to start soon.
