GB's patina trick
I've been putting off finishing the Ace because I didn't have a clear idea how I would make it look like it spent 70+ years in a shed. I have all my usual tricks with muriatic acid, vinegar, gun blueing and sanding layers but the real trick was throwing dirt on it like GB said he does. Only I put my own twist on. I swept up primer overspray and dust from the floor and put it in a slat shaker. Then spray on some rattle can clear primer, sprinkle on magic patina dust and I got the look I was going for. Here you can see it on the frame.
And here on top of the tank and frame tube.
Over all I'm pretty satisfied with the results.
