EED HELP on a project: Create vinyl background for Type 2, 10 1/4 "outie" hubcap.

Good morning folks,

I have accumulated enough hubcaps (11) to begin a rim/hubcap restoration on my 1965 f100 Standard Cab. I plan to sandblast and powder coat the hubcaps Wimbledon White. Close examination of my used and NOS hubcaps leads me to believe that the red background was added after the entire hubcap was painted white. I have no intention of painting all those backgrounds by hand and have been in contact with Graphics Express, an outfit that provides official Ford licensed vinyl graphics. Dan at Graphics Express has agreed to consider a request to reproduce the red/black background and obtain a license from Ford. I have obtained a NOS hubcap (pictured below) that I will send to them for final production. Dan has requested all the information I can gather on this hubcap design, including its application on other Ford vehicles.

These are “Type 2” hubcaps with the following FordTruck/Custom/Galaxie applications:

C4AZ-1130-A .. Stainless Steel 'outie' Hubcap ~ 10 1/4" diameter /1965/67 F100 Custom Cabs/Rangers & 1964 Ford Custom/Galaxie. Stainless steel FORD letters on a black background.

C5TZ-1130-A .. Painted 'outie' Hubcap ~ 101/4" diameter / Painted White with White FORD letters on a red background/ 1965/67 F100 Standard Cabs.

C6TZ-1130-D .. Painted 'outie' Hubcap ~10 1/4" diameter / Painted Argent with Argent FORD letters on a redbackground / 1966/67 F100 Standard Cabs.

Pictured below is a painted 'outie' hubcap. 10 1/4" diameter. Painted Wimbledon White with Wimbledon White FORD letters on a Rangoon Red background from a 1965 F100 Standard Cab.

So here's the question. Are these the only vehicles/years this hubcap was offered? Any additional information and/or applications of this design is greatly appreciated.

Still looking for answers...Anyone know? If there are other vehicles/models/years this hubcap was offered, it might make production of the background vinyl more appealing to Graphic Design.

Instead of creating a background vinyl, how about making a mask to paint the center section red (or black if you have the argent or stainless caps)?

You might not need a license if you're only making a paint mask, and you wouldn't have to make a production run of different colors. I would much prefer to restore mine correctly than to have a sticker on them.

The only vehicles that used the white with red trim cap in that style was the '65-'67 Econoline series with 14" wheels. The only full size pickups that used that style were '66 F 100's with 15" wheels, but they were painted argent silver with red trim or stainless with black trim.

seems from my very old memory, there was a big engine galaxy muscle car from that era. The only thing that told you (at the light), you were in trouble , were those little hubcaps. Today when they get "restored" they always have full hubcaps. Number Dummy, can you add to this?

I once owned a 1963 Galaxie 500 convertible 406/4 speed. The hub caps are 1963 only and are almost impossible to find.

'Course if someone is looking for some, I do know where there's about a dozen. They're "take-offs" but perfect.

Great Scott! That is exactly what my local vinyl shop said. They have a painter on premises that borrowed a hubcap and offered to digitalize "DORF" letters for masking tape.. Masking the oval surround by hand is quite easy apparently.

In any case, I'm going to pursue both avenues and I'll let you guys know what I can muster.
