Has anyone put a roof rack on their X?
I would like to add one , and a ladder, but most i am finding are tiny compared to the amount of real estate up there on top of these rigs.
The rails alone are 7 feet long!
I would like to use it for hauling our coolers and some camping gear, and of course the never used but looks cool obligatory axe
Depending on how deep your pockets are, Gobi Roof Racks can help you out. Honestly though, you would be best off finding a local welding, 4x4 shop and have them fab up what you want.
I used a yakima megawarrior with extension. You can use 2 ext and put as many crossbars up as you want as well! Plus you can move it to another vehicle. Thinkt the whole setup set me back about 900 with hijack mount and light mounts added.
Look up a Pelican case, model 1650, I put lots of them on the roof when I go diving, teaching or otherwise. I also have an 18 foot kayak, 18 foot canoe, 40 foot extension ladder, skis, bikes, etc. I never worry about the weight because the load is spread over eight bars. Overkill? Probably. I do, after all, drive an Excursion.
Hey IMASAP, your rack looks a little shorter than mine, does it do the trick for you? I have three bars inside my Mega so I can minimize movement and maximize attachment points. And I have light brackets at the front. I would love a LED light bar up there but I'm to cheap to pull the trigger.

My Surco is 84 X 50. I think I have a little under a grand into it with the 4 cross bars / feet / floor kit. Very happy with it..... it's plenty rugged. Powdercoated aluminum so it can't rust even if I chip the powdercoat. Important to me living in the rust belt.
