New Guy From PNW

Hello all,
Life long Ford guy , former F150 owner.
I am new to Super duty family , I just bought a 2004 Excursion and the guy before me took pretty good care of it and modded it a bit.
I am new to the Diesel Fords, the 6.0 is a uncharted jungle for me.
The truck has new heads , EGR delete, 4 inch straight pipe , Sinister coolant filter, separate oil filter , 3 or 4 programmers ( I still am learning what they do) 6 inch lift and wheels/tires.
I am going to replace the stereo and speakers this weekend.
My dream goal is to do the 2015 conversion to it ... one day...
Anyway , thanks in advance, im sure I will be asking a lot of questions

Welcome to the wonderful world of the X. Where is PNW? Without pics, it never happened. The 6oh can be a beast, but hopefully the previous owner truly tamed it. Make sure you surf around on the 6.0 forum also.

yeah up in Washington. Portland / Vancouver Area
Wish list - oh man ... Where to start...
Stereo this weekend, new speakers Pioneer HU and try to keep the factory DVD player working.
I want to swap out the suspension in the rear to start. It seems a little saggy , maybe just new shocks. Old man Emu or Bilsteins. Right now its got blocks and springs. Not too sure what to remedy with.
Front end will get new shocks as well. I really would like to lower the front about one inch lower than the rear to get a slight rake to the stance.
Roof rack and ladder some day
Maybe swap out the 22" rims for some 18/20s and have a little more meat on the rims.

Clean looking rig.

Did you perhaps get the terminology messed up and mean studs? Single programmer with several settings instead of 3-4 programmers? Otherwise the way things are worded... new cylinder heads, no studs, and stacked programmers = death of engine. Or it has already grenaded the heads, they're new replacements, and it'll do it again.

I'm pretty sure he meant shocks, not studs
. I believe we should hear a explosion soon.

Welcome to the forum! You have a great looking rig, but please be aware that modding can be addictive and expensive...

Ok phew! That makes way more sense. ARP is the name you were so close at getting, one of the best fasteners for all things motor-vational. Also reuseable. New heads makes me slightly suspect that something went down, not a lot of our 6.0 companions have had to swap heads out. At least you have the old ones for investigating if you desire in the future. I wouldn't bother with getting work done to them though, diesel heads are a nightmare to port and flow-check.

So you've got an SCT programmer which does the engine and to some extent the transmission, a FICM programmer which supplements the engine tuner, and the SGii like I have for monitoring. Since you have some tunes, it'd be worth getting an analog gauge for EGT's just to keep an eye on them, as they aren't reported via OBDII at all.

On a side note, where is the SGii mounted? I have mine on a BlendMount (off Amazon) that places it right above the rearview mirror. It also has an additional 8' of cable and a junction block in the package so you can reach damn near anywhere, including a car pulled up beside you, lol.

Whereabouts in the PNW are you? I spent my 8 years active duty stationed at NAS Whidbey in Washington. Good times wheeling the old XJ at Walker Valley and Evan's Pass, made a few motorcycle runs up Baker and St. Helens as well. The family and I might actually be making a road trip back up there sometime in the near-ish future. Navy dropped the ball on our personal goods shipment and the window has closed, so now we have to haul it back home to Texas.
