Superchip Or Hypertec?
Hi. New to site but not to the Hypertech Power Programmer III.
After going from 255/70R16s to 315/75R16s my speedo was out a bit (to say the least). Found out from Ford it would cost about $600 (cnd) to recal it. I decided buy the tuner($500) and thought it would not only compensate but help with gas economy and save me over $100 . Installed as per instructions and took for test. It did make a difference. Not only was I a little poorer but now neither speedo nor odometer worked. Oh joy. Apparently they know that some other Canadian built F150s have the same problem. I ran it awhile with out the tire compensation( speedo and odometer worked again when I removed the tire parameter) and did notice a small increase in power. Not 500 dollars worth though. Ah well live and learn. Too bad I didn't know about this site sooner - thanks Racerguy. As for gas economy, no real difference. It has always been poor. I don't know if it was a coincidence but I recently had a hose from the PCM replaced (one end was rotten) and I'm getting between 50-60 kilometers(indicated-odometer still way out) more per tank. It would probably be better without the bigger tires and a bit lighter foot. For $12 definatly worth taking a look at. I've been complaining about poor gas milage since new. Now I wonder if it had been the hose all along. Hopes this helps someone if not you.

Superchip Or Hypertec?
Trust me, U will Love it !!!
Gets rid of the slush box trany.
All of the features & specs of the new 1715 are the exact same as the current 1715 model, the only difference is that it will have 3 programs instead of 1, described as follows:
1.) 87 octane, adds 5-8 HP on the V8's (and 10-12 HP on the V-10's), can be used for towing or any other kind of use.
2.) Premium gas (must be high quality 91 thru 94 octane), adds about 15-18 HP on the V8's, 25+ HP on the V-10's, can be used for Towing or any other kind of use. (This is the same program that is in the current Micro Tuners)
3.) MAX Performance - Premium gas (must be highest quality 91 thru 94 octane fuel available), adds 22-26 HP, and you CANNOT tow with this program. You can use the vehicle any way you want, drive it wherever and however you want, you just can't do any towing. This program tunes the engine for maximum power and performance without additional load on the engine from towing.
I will keep U posted !!

Diablo chip for your truck will be your best bet. I think it will run you about $220. A guy recently put one on his truck and ran it at the Moroso Speedway track. He has a 4.2L V6 in his truck, it dropped his 1/4 mile time 4/10's of a second. A single chip doing that is practically unheard of.

I'm not saying the other chips aren't any good, but I think they are only good at wide open throttle. (correct me if I'm wrong please) The Diablo chip works all the time and you can switch it off whenever you want. ie: it comes with a switch that you hook up to the chip itself. Just about the best bang-for-the-buck you can get. Again, I'm not saying this because it's my opinion, I'm saying it based on real results.

Well a chip is only good if U have time to sit on the rollers. Which is $$$$$$$$$$$
The Microtuner allows advance at all throttle positions.
As of now there is no microtuner for the 4.2, in the future there will be.
I got my Microotuner for $285 on a group buy.
Which is BRAND new on the Market and the first group to get the new tuners !!!
I will have the chip in by tues, will post the results !!

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner will-work. The PCM (powertrain control module) is located under the dash on the passenger side. The hose that was replaced was coming from under the plastic shroud covering the throttle body. On my truck, if you are looking down at the engine there are two vacumm hoses about half way along the underside of the shroud on the driver side. They are only about a foot long and connect to hardline tubing which then travels along the back of the engine compartment towards the passenger side to the sensors for the PCM. The Ford part number for the hose that was changed is F65Z*9P761*JA. It probably would have even been cheaper to get a piece of generic hose but I opted for the real deal. I'm sure someone like Racerguy (the one who diagnosed this problem) could give a way better description and better tech advice then I can, but it might be somewhere to start looking.
