I just did a power front disc brake conversion from master power brakes on my 69 f100 360 Auto. I've read the booster is supposed to have its own vacuum line, but I did not have any extra ports. So I connected it to the intake manifold, which was already going to 2 other things (one I believe is to the transmission). The booster works perfectly , but now the transmission seems to only shift when I do it manually. It was shifting well before. So now I'm just looking for a new carb with a vacuum port on the rear. Not looking for anything fancy or any added HP. Right now it has a 2 barrel from "Fred jones mfg". Any recommendations? (I have dual headers/dual exhaust)
Thanks!
I've got a spacer on there already with 2 ports. One for PCV and one for hot water. Do they make spacers with 3 ports? And is that ok to use? Or should I just bypass the hot water and use that port? I live in central Texas. It gets hot. Do I need that hot water?
You need a vacuum tree for the booster. It threads into one of the 3/8" npt ports in a runner. Most carbs say not to use the base or spacer port for brake booster, when you let off the brake and the vacuum booster equalizes, it can mess up the vacuum signal to the carb and cause a stall or stumble.
