I have installed numerous fuel gauges on the early type 1989 7.5 fuel rails by removing the schrader valve and threading the gauge into the 1/16" NPT connector the schrader valve would have threaded into. My problem is that the newer type fuel rail (circa 1995) does not have a removable schrader valve. The only way I can see to do this is remove the inner valve assembly from the 1/16" housing and come up with a 1/16" NPT threaded coupling to bridge between the shrader valve housing and the new gauge. The problem I am running into os trying to find such a 1/16" NPT threaded coupling...any ideas?
You can make one. Get a piece of brass (easiest material to work with), a 1/16" npt tap, and a 15/64" drill bit. Cut brass to desired length. Drill thru. Tap both ends. Voila!
I'm sorry. I thought you were needing a 1/16" coupling, not a reducer. If I could buy one for less than $14, I wouldn't make it either! But for future reference, brass punches and drifts are an easy source of brass stock to make fittings out of.
