Question Tachometer Install 97 F150...

Hey everyone...hope all is going well. I'm wanting to install an aftermarket tach. I saw one of the earlier threads that mentioned splicing into the whi/pnk wire under the dash. Now after reviewing my haynes manual and the schematic on the starting and charging system, it shows two whi/pnk wires coming into the clutch pedal position switch. I see that these two wires are connected up the line towards the junction box/fuse relay panel. Would it be safe to assume that I could splice into either one of these and then connect this to my aftermarket tach? I'd like some ideas before I break out the bailing wire and duct tape!!!! Thanks for all your help...
