One of GB's old toy's

Not a Ford but old and since the seller said it came from Orcas Island I figure tht GB was some how involved. Regardless, pretty cool but too rich for my blood.

Now c'mon Stu.... You know me better than that. I must have said something like "The cast aluminum in the grille is really solid." And it is, although it's very brittle by nature. The wood spine, the dowels, the epoxy putty and hardware store aluminum angle and strap, not to mention the fiberglass window screen and 1/4" styrofoam sheeting are also very solid. To be honest , I told him about how the bottom third of the cast grill was made from an odd assortment of modern materials and spray painted with seven colors of paint and even set on fire briefly while bubbling some paint. I can say with a straight face that the seller is the one doing the fibbing. Somewhere in Upstate NY a guy will one day be restoring my old '38 tonner pickup and discover some of the stake pockets are made out of pine. The person I sold it to in 2001 shipped it back East for his son. Musta been a good dad.

Forgive me, I had to use the "needle" a little bit. Your creativity has us all seeing possibilities where they might have been otherwise overlooked. In my case, I'll be using fiberglass to repop F-3 (same as tonner) stake pockets, and using the Flex Seal stuff to recast the rear axle frame bumpers that are NLA. And I'm on Amazon looking at Krylon Camp Green and Italian Olive since they don't seem to be stocked at my normal retail stops.

BTW, I share your appreciation of Wilton vices. Gave my old one to our son Michael (after all it really was his since I'd traded a go cart for it when he was a little kid), and bought a new one when I built my shop years ago. Looked for another old one with no luck at Carlisle last week. Stu

Put me down for a couple sets of stake pockets! How 'bout tonner rear fenders after that?

I'm a lot slower on such things than you are, but will add a set of pockets to the job jar. Rear fenders will be somebody else's project. Stu

I seriously doubt the investment in tooling for tonner rear fenders would ever pay off in one's lifetime. Sure are scarce though.....
