Airlift 72000 wireless kit - anyone NOT having problems?

I am about to install airbags and would like the features of the 72000 kit. However a search of the forum and others suggests that many people have had trouble with it: the manifolds failing or freezing, the relays and compressors failing, the wireless control failing or not connecting to the receiver. Also, many responses from Airlift replacing components and I gather are now on Rev 3 of the manifold at least.

Now the internet being what it is, people show up to complain, but rarely show up to praise. So my question is, are there many thousands of people who have installed this kit and had it work perfectly for years? Are the problems cured in the later revisions?

Are there any alternatives that provide the same function - independent wireless control of two airbags with pressure reading - for a reasonable price, that are more reliable?

My warranty on mine expired before I installed it......................

It's been installed about 6 months so far with no issues. Granted this has been off season and I've only used it a handful of times. Sometimes I've seen a communication failure, but it corrects itself nearly instantly and works just fine.

Keep in mind, my manifold and compressor are mounted in an (almost) airtight ammo can hanging under the R/F of the bed. I would install it again, and I spent a LOT of time on the install to keep it clean and weathertight.

It's warranteed 2 years isn't it? And I thought I was a procrastinator .

I like the specs of the system, but there have been a lot of complaints, just wondering if there are even more people with no problems. Living in California, I don't think I will have the corrosion and freezing problems you have back east, but I am hoping for a low maintenance solution.

I installed mine last april with Firestone bags. My compressor is installed above the spare tire.

I use mine almost weekly and have not had any problems
I usually air up the bags when I hook up the GN Horse trailer and air down after I unhook the trailer.

I had one installed last month. I went to the coast and I didn't have any problems and I inflated the bags to 65 psi with my trailer hooked up. My wife says that the truck farts now that I have this system installed. The compressor is right up underneath the drivers side dash so when the bags automatically adjust it sounds like a fart. Other than that I have no problems with the system and it make it a lot easier to hook and unhook my trailer.

I've installed this system on two trucks (neither are mine) and they like the system. I have not heard any co plants from them (they are retires Rv pullers who go to south Florida and back here to SC so there's not much in the way of freezing/road salt/off road).

Personally, I prefer the Firestone bags and in-cab fill/deflate/psi gauge manifold tied into my viair system with the in-cab on/off switch/tank gauge. It's all hard wired and there's nothing to worry about except fuses.

Yep, I spent a LOT of time think about how I wanted to install it and keep it safe. Didn't want it in the cab, but it had to be somewhere that the road salt couldn't get to it. All the wiring and air intake run through bulkhead fittings in the ammo can. I have a bulkhead on top with a 90 pointed toward the rear and mesh screen to let exhaust air and heat out.

My only regret is I didn't install the damn thing sooner!

I have had the kit since for some time now. It was first installed on my GMC, so new was May 2009. Initially I had no problems but when I put the kit on my hitch with the Ford I had some issue and had the manifold replaced under warranty. Since then no problems (hope I don't jinx myself here).

I no longer use it for the suspension. I have a trailersaver hitch with air bags and I use the controller to adjust the hitch.
It gets a lot of use now, probably more then when it was used for the GMC's air bags.

I had the compressor and manifold replaced on my system. The manifold didn't link up for whatever reason. Tried a few things nothing. Never got around to calling either since I work alot. In the end, 2 1/4 PTC couplers were used to connect the hoses from the manual fills to the bags. No air loss. Left them at 10 PSI. I carry a portable air compressor if I know if need the air bags which is never in my case.

good luck...

Assuming the load is distributed fairly evenly ftom side to side, is there any reason to run different pressures in the bags?

From my prior experience between the first and replacement manifolds - the two manifolds used two different methods to sync with the controller.

You can use different pressures to level the truck either with an uneven load or parked on uneven ground. Also if you do not have two isolated fills, the air will transfer from one side to the other on corners, reducing roll resistance.

I have had mine on sense February 2013 and it works great. I have my compressor mounted on the inside of the frame rail on the passenger side and I ran the intake up into the engine bay and mounted the filter on the firewall. You hear it when you first turn on the ignition if the bags need air but I never hear it running down the road.

I use air lift wireless one and have had no issues other than the install which is a PITA when it comes to the drivers side . . .

Almost exactly the same here... I installed last summer... Once in a while a communications issue, but when you think about it, you're asking radio waves to go through the steel of the cab as well as the box (mine is mounted under the box - not far from the fuel filler)... I put mine inside a small battery box that I vented on the bottom and hung it upside down from the bottom of the bed..
