Remote start heat/cooled seat question

I have a 16 f350 lariat with factory remote start and the heated seats don't go on until I start with key. Any way of having them come on with remote start?

I think you need to read the owner's manual for more clarification.....but i believe the climate control system needs to be set to Auto....

REMOTE START (If Equipped)

The remote start feature allows you to pre-condition the interior of your vehicle. The climate control system works to achieve comfort according to your previous settings.

Note: You cannot adjust the system during remote start operation.

Turn the ignition on to return the system to its previous settings. You can now make adjustments normally, but you need to turn certain vehicle-dependent features back on, such as:

• Heated seats.
• Cooled seats.
• Heated steering wheel.
• Heated mirrors.
• Heated rear window.

You can adjust the default remote start settings using the information display controls. See Information Displays (page 83).

Automatic Settings

In hot weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The cooled seats are set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information display).

In moderate weather, the system either heats or cools (based on previous settings). The rear defroster, heated mirrors and heated seats do not automatically turn on.

In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats are set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information display). The rear defroster and heated mirrors automatically turn on.

It should auto run heat and heated seats if cool enough for it too. There is a place in the steering wheel controlled menu to turn that on or off.

And I can tell you that mine work great in the Alaskan Winters. What does happen is when I start with a key they turn off and I have to turn them back on. But since my seat and steering wheel is warm I know that the remote start turned them on.

What I don't like is that I can't control what Ford engineers though was cold enough to turn on the supplemental heater. As a result if it's 20F out the cabin gets warmer faster than if it's 30F out.

Do you have the supplemental heater? That is what starts producing heat for me real fast.

I do have the supplemental heater and it works ok. Does that mean if I have the supplemental heater that the heated/cooled seats rear defrost and heated mirrors won't work?

rear defrost and mirrors are separate items.

In the auto position they should come on with the remote start.

They don't so I'm going to have to assume my cooled seats won't work when the summer rolls around with 100*F my black with black interior is going to be HOT. Is there anything I'm missing? Do I have to set the temperature to 72*F inside the cab?

Ok, a couple things in case you are not aware. When you remote start, and its cold enough, and climate control is on AUTO the things mentioned will come on. However, something to note, the indicator lights for these items do not come on, on the dash/LCD at all. The heated/cooled seats take awhile to warm up/cool off, so if you are remote starting, and jumping into your truck in 5 minutes or less, you may not feel anything at that point. Once you insert your key, and turn your key on to drive, you have to turn heated seats back on again, and then the indicator lights will light.

It is my feeling that all is working ok for you, but you just don't know it as the controls for this are misleading(no indicator lights, etc).

How much time are you giving them? I've found my heated seats take a good 5 minutes to get warm enough to feel, especially with a cold hand (or bottom).
