I just bought an 82 flareside F150 & one of the previous owners put LED trailer lights without reverse lights on it....I have NO idea where the reverse switch is or how to track down this black & pink wire my book is telling me to look for....can I get some pictures to help me out?
I would first look at the rear of the truck starting at the new lights as the old b/u light wire may still be there.
If not there start your way back to the main harness to see if the b/u wire is there.
I can not see any one removing the wire all the way back to the trany.

The EVTM on my website has info on the backup light wiring on this web page: Lights: - Gary's Garagemahal. Scroll down to Page 46 and 47 for the schematic and component locations.
However, I have never seen trailers with backup lights and have been around a lot of trailers. Tag light, tail light, and stop/turn, but not backup. Yes, I see that they are available to purchase, but I've not seen them in the wild.
You did not specify, but if this truck has an automatic transmission, then you will find the reverse light switch on the drivers side of the transmission. This is swprior posts, you can then trace the black wire back wire plug.
it's a 4 spd manual on a 300ci straight 6....only trailer(4) wires go to the back....haven't been able to track down the switch...I HAVE the Blazer C599SWTM LED tail lights....might be what you're talking about in LMC...I got mine from Farm & Fleet...I beleive I found the plug but it looks like it takes an extension to get it to the trans....this isn't the only part I've found disconnected or missing on this truck.

Ok 4 wires so maybe no ground as the light housings would be grounded when bolted up.
Are ALL 4 wires being used? Going with what I posted above less the ground wire, 1 wire would not be used and that could be the B/U wire.
Look at what ever you used to find that black/pink wire and look at the rear lights and it will show how many wires are back there, maybe 4?
Your lights are only using 3 so that 4th wire is B/U.
If the 4 sp you have is the T18 (granny low) IIRC the switch is on the top just rear of the shifter. There should be a back up switch wire harness. It plugs into that switch runs to the main harness that is run inside the frame rail and plugs into it.
I can get pictures of the switch & B/U harness, but not the main harness as it has been pulled as I am doing a frame off rebuild.
Oh my truck also had trailer lights bolted on, no B/U lights and I am sure the B/U wire is in the main harness not used.

edit: red showing what I think you found. That plug would have power on 1 wire and the other goes to the rear for the lights. It sounds like you are missing the B/U light switch harness.
it's not that there SHOULD be only 4 wires back there....there ought to be 5, 5th being for the removed reverse light....a bunch of things got hacked off of this thing before the previous owner bought it for a plow truck & changed his mind...I found the plug that's supposed to go to the trans, but there's a piece missing. the temp guage also doesn't work because the pigtail from the sensor to the firewall was removed...like I said...I JUST bought it. There is much work to be done to this beautiful beast.
Well if the PO opened up the harness where that B/U plug is to the rear then I guess the wire could be gone.
Same with the temp wire, harness open and it was pulled all the way back to the fire wall?
What else has been hacked up and how are you with car/truck wiring?
If a lot more was hacked / removed then might be best to get a universal wiring harness from say Pain Less Wiring.
If just the 2 wires then it is nothing to add them back and tape up the harness.
Tomorrow I can get a picture of that B/U switch so you know where it is and how the plug is to make up a harness if you want.
Dave ----
I can rewire it in my sleep if I know what lies ahead of me...I'm guessing I'll need to hit a salvage yard to find the two pigtails I'm missing. These are all things I can wait for...just have to back into parking spots so people don't back into me in lots
Thanks guys. This really helps me understand how much got removed from this truck. At least I couldn't have picked a truck that was easier to work on....I can see EVERYthing.
If you look at Page 47 (Lights: - Gary's Garagemahal) you can see the wiring diagram on the left, which shows the connectors, and the connector locations on the right. So, for instance, you have C1017 showing in the schematic just before and after the switch in the transmission, and on the right you'll see that it is on the LH side of frame near the transmission. So, you should be go to the salvage and get the pigtail that goes to your tranny and plug it into C1017 - assuming it is there.
