42- 47 Stake bed wanted.

Live in the Chicago area and am looking for a script bed for a 1 and 1/2 ton in which to make a stake bed . The truck is a 42 but was used with a grainery on the back. I now want to make it stake bed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Henry

Which wheelbase? 134" or 157"? You need a 9' bed or an 11' bed. I have a good 9' bed but shipping is high....

Gary, wouldn't a ton and a half more likely be 14' or 16'? Most of them in this area are.

Gary, I will look this weekend and measure. My title says the factory number is 99T492 and engine number is SOS-259519. Do either of those numbers translate into something helpful?

I think the script beds are 9' like mine, or 12' could be the larger one. I have seen some longer beds for sure, but not script. I had a tonner script bed on a parts truck and that was 8'. I like my trucks short and stubby like me.

I have a 12' factory bed I'd sell, but shipping cost to Chicago would be ugly....
Lots of farms in the upper midwest, I'd bet there is one around there....maybe put an ad on craigslist in your area that you are looking for one?

For sure. Mine on my '47 came off a '59 F350 and bolted right on. It's a 9' too. My extra bed is from the dry side of the sate East of the mountains. All the steel I can see looks good, but it has a layer of 3/4 plywood nailed down tight on it. I got it last fall when I was hauling 4 trucks and set it aside as I have been so busy with projects since.
