Hi, I have a 1995 ford f150 5.0l xlt supercab. I am having trouble with it if anybody can help me with it I would appreciate it. OK here goes symptoms : it started with loss of power while driving down the road then after 2 months it started a really bad vibrations makes the whole truck shake. Had ford to do a tune up but problems still there. I have always kept the oil changed plus filter myself. Have done a compression test on it and the reading are 1. 110, 2. 125, 3. 115, 4. 100, passage side plus the spark pugs were wet with oil. Driver side 5. 120, 6. 120, 7. 120, 8. 120, spark pugs were dry. I have had people tell me burnt valves but the truck does not smoke sometimes the vibration smooth out driving it. I had done a motor flush on it and smoke was coming out of the oil pan while it was draining plus there was maybe 1/4 to 1/2 quart of oil in filter. I also heard it could be out of balance the weight on flywheel cause the truck to shake. PLEASE HELP!! if some one out there has had same problem how did you fix it THANK YOU
Hi, we tried to retrieve any codes that was stored but it would not give any even with jumper wire, paper clip, and code reader. I bought the obd 1 for the truck not a cheap it would not recognize the truck. Took it to someone they got an o2 sensor code and that was all and took it too firestone they said the eec was bad on it and it not storeing codes. Yes the CEL will come on and go off it don't stay on continus. See this is why it is a guessing problem for me! When you crank the truck the idle is high and the shakeing is bad until it idles down its not that bad. Driving it down the hwy it sometimes smooth out especially when it get up to 75 to 80 mph and continus gas but let off the gas and start to slow down the vibration is bad. I only wish I knew if I need to rebuild the motor or not cause I only have enough money and one time to fix it right. I guess with oil on the spark plugs when we took them out on the passage side there something wrong. Thank You for the replys and keep them fords on the roads.
Clean the pins on the self test plug with contact cleaner or a small finger nail file. I have also used a small screwdriver in a pinch. No codes is an indication of no communication to computer, i.e. bad contacts, or the computer itself is bad.
Do yourself a favor, pull out the computer (PCM) and inspect for signs of leaking capacitors or water damage. Plenty of threads on here to show you how to remove and inspect the computer.
