So my truck is running a little cold. At 80 mph with a pallet of shingles in the box, I can almost get the oil temp. To 180. So I'm replacing thermostat. Bought the diesel site 203. Most of my driving is lightly loaded. And Minnesota is only warm 2 months a year. Also bought silicon upper hose and billet housing. Because both hoses are leaking slightly at the connections. Was wondering if there was a silicon lower hose somewhere for individual purchase? Haven't found one yet.
PS I bought this stuff because I'm a sucker for words like silicon, and billet. I don't really know if it's actually better.
Nope. I like to try and pound sand into things that are useful. Hasn't happened yet but I'll just keep pounding sand until it does. Lol.
I'd like to blame that on my phone and my rushed-ness. But let's face it spelling wasn't my strong suit in school. So yes, silicone would be what I'm looking for. Thanks for the save.
In my experience I have found that it is not unusual for a radiator hose connection to leak when the weather goes cold, particularly with fresh connections. The aluminum fittings shrink in the cold temperatures and cause the leaks and it is prudent to crank them down a little in October. Clean fittings and hoses and a couple of years helps create a seal/bond that is hard to break for disassembly in later years.
