As the men ahead me have said, that is the correct part. When I bought my truck, I saw that clamp and thought to myself, well I guess that will be the first part I replace. Turns out that it was doing just fine and that there were v grooves mounted to the clamp band. From that point on, I knew it was right. Although, I have thought about trying to see if the T-clamp style for the collector and down pipe would fit, it would certainly look better up there.
Somewhere I have a couple pics of broken spiders from guys using T bolt clamps there. No bueno.
Ummm... yeah. I would be one of those guys. I then had to buy the AFE intake because I couldn't find a stock version locally in time for a camping trip AND the dealer wants an incredible amount of money for it... In my case, I wasn't trying to improve on the stock clamping I had a brain fart and reversed the order of the clamps.
I realized once i was taking off the clamp that it was attached to the v groove. I then said , well i guess this does go here. ha! just kinda looked like it was jerry rigged. Glad im not the only one who thought so
Yep to being in the change the worm gear plumbers clamp to t clamp type and crack the spider/X pipe club.
Don't do it. The spider/x pipe is hard to find unless you want to buy an upgrade at more $.
The stealership sold me the T type clamp. That's what's shown in the book. Older worm gear type obsolete. I reinstalled my old one and no problem after finding a spider at a recycler. $80 as I recall.
Need to find a source for a spare of the worm gear type.

Helped a friend swap out his spider because he did the same thing. They are still available here. A lot of people, including the dealer, don't realize there are actually 3 options depending on your year. You have to use the right one because of the thickness of the flanges are all different.
