Restarting 7.3 after replacing high pressure oil lines
Hi all. I have a 2000 7.3. I blew a high pressure oil line while driving and the engine died. Replaced those now the truck won't start. Read a previous thread about turning the key a few times to get the oil pump working again. Tried that, pump makes gurgling sound but the starter is not engaging. Could I have blown a fuse? Cleaned all connections so I don't think that's it... Please help!
The high pressure oil pump is gear driven, it's not doing a thing unless the engine is spinning. If the starter isn't turning the engine you have a different problem. Can you hear the starter motor turning? Try whacking the starter a few times, sometimes that will get a sticky solenoid or bendix going again.
If the starter isn't cranking, try shorting the relay on the passenger fender (this is how I crank the engine when doing compression tests). If that doesn't work, your problem is down below.
