well guys it finally happened. Besides the rad failure my truck has not been down since i got it. i never said it out loud for fear of jinxing myself but i haven't had to do anything to my truck that i didn't want to its been really reliable.well today i was talking to my mother about her having to spend $2200 getting her 09 f250 back on the road so i made that very comment boasting about how great my truck has treated me. I'm sure you get where this is going.
took a short trip cut even shorter once i realized i was spewing white smoke out the tailpipe. i was able to turn around and head home. truck was running fine both on the way and once i got home in the driveway. i shut it down and inspected the engine no leaks i could see with a flashlight. turned it on, it idled fine but still smoke. then i notice oil on the underside of the hood coming from the blow off valve. i got under the truck and there is oil leaking out of the downpipe. i wasn't paying attention when i was driving because i was in a panic if i could hear the turbo spooling or not. i did notice my egts kept going to 900 or driving at 45. i don't want to lean you guys in any direction but i think it maybe a blown turbo??
I'd say not enough information yet to fully determine, but I think you are right to start at the turbo. It almost sounds as if there leak at the oil fittings???
i had a chance to look around.
first off when this was happening my oil pressure was steady at 75psi vs 40-50psi at highway speeds and 25-30 idling. it is possible my gauge was not correct as my egt gauge from the same manufacturer sometimes messes up when its cold outside.however, i took off my intake to have a look at the compressor wheel and there is a pool of oil siting there.
it doesn't sound bad but something is defiantly not right with the way it sounds. the wheel spins free from what i can tell. and yes i did get it from midwest

Pretty sure an internal seal blew out. I ordered a new turbo and I'm replacing the intercooler with one from no limit since it's got oil in it. I'll update next week after I take the current turbo out.
