2016 different fuel lines and design lower filter ??

Okay just check my truck over everything's fine quick question though with some pictures I've been watching people change their fuel filters and mine's far from ready however I just noticed something when I drain the water off the bottom of my unit or I should say the lack of water totally different looking than anything I've seen online did they change this for 15 and 16 and under the hood too I don't see anyone discussing this extra line that's connected to the bottom of the fuel assembly thanks for any advice

That is view from bottom as you can see the yellow drain ****.

It appears to be a rock guard or something. It will have to be removed to change filter. My 2015 doesn't have it.

The upper/engine filter only has two ports like the replacement filter. Ford must have devised a method to purge system without the 3rd port in the original engine filter.

Not to start a controversy but as I explained the mpg is still holding around at the worst 16 and up upwards 22. Just started a new job down south very mountainous roads heading down towards Schoharie County if any of you know upstate New York route 30 south heavy Hills 20% grades and some greater truck didn't get under 16 miles to the gallon driving like an fool with 2300 pounds of title just to see how it would handle the hills endless power very pleased it's quite incredible to climb some of these grades and know that you can keep accelerating other than getting a speeding ticket the truck is not the limit quite impressive.

I like the rock shield and the housing itself does appear to be different from my 2015. Makes you wonder if the top of the housing is also different. If not, perhaps the new style bottom could fit the 2011-2015?

That's a very good question. For what it's worth, I just changed the filters on my '16 about two weeks ago. As for the shield, yes I had to unbolt it in order to be able to remove the DFCM cap to change out the primary filter and noticed the cap does appear different from the older trucks. Since you bring up the question about the part number for the new unit, I just HvBOM'd the VIN on my truck and came up with FC4Z-9G270-A. As for the filters, it still uses the FD-4615 filters like the older trucks.

interesting change. It has to be for the better. Same as when they changed oil pans back to what actually works and has been proven.

Probably been updated to prevent the issue the original design had with breaking.
