So long Mater. Enjoy the UK

So I watched them load up my Mater on a flat bed in preparation to head across the pond to the UK. A guy over there bought him and he will probably be resold once he arrives. It was a day of mixed feelings...nice to have the extra garage space, but also sad to watch 4 years of work and a few busted knuckles depart my driveway.

Happily I'll experience this. I will be gone way before my F-2 leaves my family. In fact I've threatened to be buried in it. Now the other iron I have sitting in my garage could be let go for the right price but again, I'm a hoarder and don't let stuff go easily.

Nice truck, I'm sure the new owner will be very pleased.

That's wild. Where are you located and how did you find a buyer overseas? The guy who bought my truck worked for my old company and lives in the UK. Guess he and a friend have been buying up classic cars here in the states and reselling them in the UK.

I posted to craigslist, and they bought it sight unseen. Wired the money and came to pick it up.

It must have been hard to see her go. Some small part of me dies every time I see something I have worked on being sold off. Hope the new owner puts as much love into her as you have. Beautiful truck!

Thanks all! It was a labor of love but also something on my bucket list since I was a kid. Always wanted to build a car or truck and now I did it. All of us on this site have amazing talents...very few people can do what we can do with some tools, imagination and a desire.

I lived in the UK for almost 9 years total - they are very into their hot rods and period cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The second time I went over, I brought over a '36 Ford P/U just so I could have something to sell and bring something back. Brought back a '37 Model Y (like a 3/4 scale '34 Tudor sedan).

What was the guy's name who bought your trucks? I may know him, or know of him. If you don't want to post publicly, PM me.

His name is Kevin Welch. He worked here in Denver for my old contract company and then went back to the UK. Nice guy.

That's a beautiful truck. Ive sold two cabover trucks to the same guy in the Uk in the past. A 46 Dodge cabover and a 52 ford cabover. And just this week selling the 51 ford cabover that i had hoped to build someday to the same guy.

I wasnt even advertising. He called out of the blue looking for a toothy 51 or 52. I tried to sell him the 52 cabover with the 48 grill from my "mission impossible" thread but no go. I couldnt refuse the offer and since it was already number 5 on my list...

Too many future projects. Probably never would have happened. Not enough time.

So now what are you going to do? You have another project in mind or lined up?

TJ, didn't know we were neighbors. Haven't ever seen your truck. Are you going to get another?
