Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I just purchased a 55 F100, which has been my dream truck for a long time. It runs, drives, doesn't stop with only one bad rust spot (Passenger rear fender). The seller knew very little about the truck and I know very little period, haha. This is my first restro, so I will most likely be on here a ton.
First is drain and replace fluids, belts, etc. Then Upgrade to electic Ignition, then new plugs, wires, then who knows.
Tips and advice always welcome.

Welcome . I hope you have as much fun as the rest of us . I would however start with the brakes and then move on from there .

Yes, brakes are definitely on the short list. I am so early into this I am still trying to determine what has been done and still needs to be done.

Welcome indeed! And congratulations! I remember bringing my own truck home and the feeling I had.

Before anything, get your hands on 1) a Parts and Accessories catalog and 2) a Shop manual. The links for each are:

1) 1948-56 Ford Truck Master Parts Catalog
2) 1954-55 Ford Truck Shop Manual Download

That parts and accessories manual will tell you the part numbers for your wheel cylinders, master cylinder and brake booster if you have one. However there's a pretty good chance your wheel cylinders just need a rebuild kit and some light honing. That would save you a lot of money.

My favorite sellers for these trucks are:
www.dennis-carpenter.com
www.macsautoparts.com
www.midfifty.com
www.lmctruck.com
www.f100central.com
www.oreillyauto.com

Should you need a new master cylinder I have a spare here I'd sell for a lot less than you'll find online. I made an oops and bought one too small for my flatbed. It's actually for your truck instead.

Thanks for the info, very helpful! I am still digging into it, but work keeps getting in the way. There were things updated in the late 90's so still trying to determine what is stock and what is changed. PM the info on your Master Cylinder.
