putting a 4.0 automatic transmission in a 2.5
I've changed a 2.5 automatic transmission in my ranger to a 4.0 by changing the bell housing I got it all in and had nothing no forward no reverse not sure why

Did you measure to check all the dimensions are the same for the mainshaft to engage the splines etc? I think the 4.0 depending on year may also require computer inputs not sure.
Look here for trans info. has info on the 4.0 and what it fits. Indicated it is computer controlled to some degree?
