Angry Got 2 codes today

I used a code reader on my 1986 Bronco with a EFI 302 today and recieved 2 codes(koeo). One for the MAP sensor and one for the TPS. Would eather of these be the ones that cause rough idling and occasional stalling? I couldnt do a KOER test cause it would make the engine go upto 2000rpm and then the engine would slow down and stall.

TPS will do that . Replace your TPS, that should do it, at least the stalling, and maybe the rough Idle.

How's your MPG lately? If you noticed a decrease in your MPG, It could be a malfunctioning MAP sensor. check for vacuum at the map sensor @ idle, should have alot.(loud sucking sound, will stick to your finger if touched) If not, check for a plugged vacuum hose to the map or a plugged manifold vacuum tree.

If everythings OK, get the haynes manual and test the MAP with a vaccuum source attached.

The manual will explain how to do the test with a multi meter. 86's were voltage varying type MAP sensors. easy to test.

89-90 started the frequency varying type in which you needed a Oscilloscope (spelling?)
to read the Hrtz.

Good luck.

Look on the firewall on the passengers side closer to the middle. It will have about four wires and a black tube that comes from the intake manifold.

When you pull this off @ Idle, be prepared to see black smoke from the exhaust or for it to die. It should run very rough if at all.

Just thought of something, take your IAC valve off and clean it with carb cleaner. That may be your only problem. it is located on the throttle body (big cigar looking thing with 2 wires. should be on the back side of the double tube Throttle body. 2 bolts only, easy. remove it carefully and you may not have to replace the gasket.

Good luck.
