Need some advice - axle seal
So for a little while now I have had an axle seal leak in my rear left tire. I initially topped off the fluid and cleaned the brakes until I was ready to tackle the job...
So a nice Sunday came, I inlisted some help and gathered my supplies. The truck was lifted, tire removed, differential cover removed... Snag
So the bolt that holds the pin in which holds the axle in would not budge, wrenches were hit with hammers (a wrench actually broke), the bolt was stripped and filed down to try another wrench, vice grips used, finally a cold chisel was hit with a hammer to try and spin it free, nothing worked.
So we called it, new fluid filled and 25 bucks worth of fluid was used to gain nothing. I have been cleaning up the brakes, topping the fluids and downshifting to slow the truck. While the brakes seem adequate I need advice on how to proceed, iv even considered doing a brake job every few months as it would be cheaper then taking it to a shop.
The truck still has life in her and I would hate this stupid bolt to be the end of her.
Just recently I have felt the truck pulling right on hard brakes so new brakes might be coming soon. Is there a way to fix this leak from the outside without axle removal?
Any other useful advice is welcome. Thanks
