Have had the truck over a year now always starts fine in the summer. starts mint if I plug it in over night. But it's 45 degrees today I had it sitting at work for 10 hours and it starts harder then hell. It will fire for a second then die then it starts up. It's starting way to hard for 45 degrees any help? The glow plugs are kicking In I can hear the solenoid
Sound like you have some glow plugs burned out, or the relay is faulty, even though you say you can hear it click. the contacts inside the relay can get burned not allowing juice to flow threw the relay. Try "jumping" the relay with a large screw driver by touching the 2 large terminals on the relay with the screw driver. Be careful to touch only the terminals and no other metal with the screw driver. Hold the SD on the terminals for approx. 30 seconds then try to start the truck. if it fires more easily, the relay is suspect. If no difference, the glow plugs are suspect.
It sounds like new glow plugs. Id replace the glow plug relay and if that doesn't help I'd replace the glow plugs. Watch your wiring for the glow plugs. Mine started smoking and got fried and we had to tow it home. If i was you I'd just replace them as long as Im in there. (Its a quick replacement)
