Something seems odd to me when I scroll down the dashboard menu to Truck Apps, specifically Trailer menu. On my '13 F150 and I believe on my previous '12 F250, when truck is started after connecting a trailer, this menu will show the trailer that is connected, then when the trailer is disconnected, under this menu it showed trailer disconnected I believe- or "no active trailer" - I can't recall which.
On my '15 F350, after the trailer is disconnected, it still shows up as connected under this menu and the braking power bar shows activity. I was not expecting this, but instead expect it to show "trailer disconnected". In order to not show a trailer connected, I have had to stop and select "no active trailer".
I've noticed that the '15 does something different with that screen but I haven't tried to pin it down. I will play with it tomorrow to see if I can help.
My 2011 F250 will show connected trailer when I'm hooked up with the toy hauler and then all of a sudden the disconnected trailer flashes. But when I squeeze the manual brake levers, the trailer brakes work and then the trailer is connected again. It doesn't do it with no trailer. Funny thing is, my bass boast, which is a 5 prong connector, and my utility trailer, which is a 4 prong connector are not recognized as connected trailers by the truck.

IIRC, the truck relies on the trailer breaks, or the resistance thereof, to determine if a trailer is connected. No trailer breaks, no trailer, as far as the truck is concerned.

Pull the 7 pin connector apart at the rear of the truck and check those connections.
The issue I am asking for help with involves a trailer that has working brakes and when it is connected, all is fine. The problem I am seeing is that the truck does not appear to recognize that no trailer is connected, unless/until I manually select "no active trailer". Until I do that it still shows the trailer connected and the braking power bar shows application of brakes.
This seems odd and counter to the way it works on my F150 and previous F250.
Please advise.

My truck would do this occasionally whenever I turned sharp, so I now run the trailer wire through the trailer coupler lock so that it doesn't move so much whenever I turn sharp. Since the trailer connected is controlled by sensing the electric brakes, a sharp turn would temporarily break the connection. This seems to have solved that problem for me.
Had some frozen precip here in SC so I haven't really played around with trailers yet. I gotta drive to Tampa tomorrow and will try to work you in some time, if I can help. I don't know that I will find anything...
I am afraid there is just not enough info out yet on the '15's and what they changed. I think you will need to take it in and ask how come it still show a trailer when you don't have one?

I appreciate the help. While it's not a critical thing, it is annoying.
