draining fuel questions

Hey Fellas,

I have a few questions which are very simple and very basic, some I am pretty sure I know the answer but I would like some verification from you guys that have been in the game for a while.

I am sure most of these question can be answered in my manual and by a quick search but I have been so damn busy with work I barely have time to type this.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Draining fuel....how often are you guys doing this and how much do you drain? My truck sits a lot so condensation may be higher for me....would once a month be the norm for my situation?

When I do drain fuel I do so at the petcock that is located on the main filter housing correct?

Thanks again for your time!

Drain monthly is ford recommendation.

I drain less often because I run about 100 gallons through there every week, never sits.

How much? I use a glass jar and make that decision on the fly. If it comes out nice and clean from the start, I just stop.

One time back in 2009 I had about 4oz of rusty water come out, so, I drained a half gallon and immediately got new filters.

I'd say give that a try.

I drain when the water sensor says there is water in it or when I change filters and there has NEVER been any water in the separator.

The water is heavier than the fuel so it sits on the bottom and will come out first when you drain so you don't need to drain much to see if there is any water.
