Hood Help! !
Bad photo but it's late
I will post more pictures tomorrow, but in the mean time can anyone explain to me how to get my good to sit down in the rear. The bolts that hold the hood to the hinges are boogered up as in twistin em does no justice. How can I get my hood sitting right so I can throw some paint on her. Any advice is appreciated and again sorry for the bad picture but will for sure update during day light.

I bet your hood hinges are worn out and not pulling it down tight? Maybe try to adjust the hinges lower? Or you will have to do the ol the push down on the back edges one its closed.....

If the hood hinge bolts don't tighten anymore, that means the nuts up inside the inner fender are spinning in their cage because at some point they were over-tightened.
Fixing it requires drilling out the spot welds, hammering the cages back into shape, and then welding them back on. Ask me how I know.

The hinge-to-inner fender has some adjustability. It looks like the hood hinge's back side needs to go down and the front hood latch raised up.
It's gonna be a compromise at best. Tolerances were as loose as a goose with these work trucks. But I would look to get the back side of the hood even with the cowl.. that's more important. It'll probably end up with a large (horizontal) gap between the fender and the hood.
Patience is required.

Alright HIO after goin out there and wrenching on the bolts they all seem to be plenty tight: hinges to hood/ Hinges to Inner fender. Before the bolts from hinges to hood were stripped I thought, mabe my cousin fixed em as he was the engine installer. But as of now they will not tighten up. So to fix I should raise the hood latch in the front and that will sit the back down? As the looks of it there's two bolts that hold the front latch on, do I loosen em and slide the latch up. Sorry about the confusion, just tryin to let you know the facts so you can help me correctly. Thanks bud

Like I said, it's gonna be a compromise. Work on the hood-to-cowl alignment first. The hood hinges will need to tilt - the back side coming down and the front part of the hinge generally staying in the same place. It's a balancing act... use the hood latch support to even up the horizontal fender-to-hood gap.

to get the back of the hood down. You may need a buddy to help, loosen the 2 most rear bolts of the 3 that hold the hinge to the inner fender,have someone push up on the front of the hood so the back of the hinge pivots down then tighten those 2 bolts and that will bring the back off the hood down. Close the hood SLOW to make sure it isnt hitting any where. Ive been doing auto body over 35yrs, ask if you have any more ?????
