Tire Drama....now no Brakes...

Morning has been a crap show

drop the truck off for tires at 8am.....

go there 9:30 to pick up....still stuck on tire #1....can't remove the center ring from the aftermarket rims.....allen bolts striped out.....

So I tell them to give up and I'll bring them the stock Ford rims from home.....I go home and get them.....drive back drop them off....

“These use separate lugs.....any chance you have them...." ****....

I go home.....search the basement, find said lugs....all 32 of them......along with the center hub cabs......drive back.....drop them off.....

Back home to work while they change them over.....go pick them up, new tires look great, rims look good, I drive home.....brake pedal feels weird, then it gets mushier and mushier.

The pedal felt stiff and the brakes were a little touchy this morning when I dropped off the truck, and now they are mushy as hell.

It has been cold for weeks here as well as everywhere it seems so I'm thinking that maybe there is some water in the line and it froze up a bit and is causing the issue, of course I could be 100% wrong as well.

It is supposed to warm up the next few days into the 40's and 50's so I'm hoping if it were a freezing problem it would solve itself enough to go the 1 mile down to my local shop and have them bleed them.

I'll check the fluid level when I get home, I didn't notice any fluid dripping in the snow so I don't believe anyone at the tire joint did anything, especially seeing as how things felt strange this morning on the way there.

Am I thinking about this right?

Thanks

Check your rear brake line behind the fuel tank as well. Mine ruptured there while towing a trailer.

Thanks guys.....originally in between the tire store BS and trying to stay online for work I didn't notice any fluid in the snow....maybe because there was so little fluid left.

I remembered I had a whole container of new fluid in my tub so I filled it to Max.....then backed up and down the driveway testing them and the pedal got mushier and mushier....pulled it up to the shed and saw fluid all over the place underneath the front lefti-ish.......and my light finally came on.

I then went back out and took a look and it looks like it is also coming from under the cab somewhere......like where I would lay to drain the oil etc.

Thinking it might be the cylinder or booster etc. Hoping I can fill her up enough to get it 1 mile down the street to my brake dude....

How hard of a job was it to replace your brake line? Mine ruptured at what appears to be a clamp right between the frame and the tank. It's kinda hard to tell with brake fluid and salt water dripping in my face, but it looks like a real pita to get that line out of there. Did you have to take the fuel tank out?
