HELLO FELLOW FTE, I AM NEW AND IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP!!!
HELLO ALL,
I HAVE A 2005 FORD RANGER EDGE 4.0L V6 EXTENDED CAB WITH 248,000 MILES. I LIVE IN EL PASO TEXAS AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD I PUSHED MY TRUCK TO THE LIMIT. IT IS MY FIRST VEHICLE AND I LOVE IT,BUT ON 2-6-2014 I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK (WHICH IS A 64 MILE ROUND TRIP DRIVE THAT I HAVE MADE FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS ALL MOST EVERY DAY) AND I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER, NOW LET ME BE CLEAR I HAD ELECTRONIC POWER RADIO WAS ON LIGHTS GAUGES EVERYTHING, THE POWER I LOST WAS ALL ENGINE THE GAS PEDAL BECAME LIMP AND DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY THE THE FLOOR BOARD. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY CHECKED FUSES GOOD, CHECKED TO SEE IF THE FUEL PUMP WAS PRIMING IT IS AND ITS ONLY A YEAR OLD I REPLACED LAST YEAR AFTER I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK WHICH I WAS TOLD BY FORD AND OTHER MECHANICS THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND IT ENDED UP BEING THE INERTIA SWITCH WHICH I LEARNED ABOUT ON A SITE LIKE THIS. NEW SWITCH TRUCK RUNNING GOOD UNTIL 2-6-2014. TRUCK WILL NOT START HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE HOUSE. A VERY GOOD MECHANIC I KNOW CAME TO HELP ME OUT WE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, THE PLUG WIRES, FUEL FILTER, BATTERY AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT START. IT WANTS TO IT REALLY WANTS TO START. I HAVE GAS I HAVE SPARK NOW I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I THINK IT MIGHT BE TIMING. I HAVE READ THAT THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE HAS FOUR CHAINS NOT ONE CHAIN OR A BELT. CAN SOME ONE HELP ME, EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT OPTIONS I HAVE BECAUSE I HAVE TALKED TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT 3000.00 TO FIX IT AND I DO NOT RUST THE LOCAL MECHANIC SHOPS.
Did your mechanic check to see if any trouble codes were stored in the ECM memory? While the parts you replaced made a certain amount of sense, it would make more sense to first determine what the problem is and then replace parts based on the identified problem(s).
It appears that you have electrical power to the engine area. Is the check engine light on? When you try to start the engine, does it crank over? At this point, we need more specific details. The old adage that we first need to define the problem before we try to fix it.
Let us know what you find out in terms of trouble codes.
This is just a shot in the dark, but if you feel that there was a physical change in the gas pedal, I would investigate that. I think a bad crankshaft position sensor will give you a no start, but there are certainly a lot of other things as well.(PCM) Give us as much information as possible and good luck with it.
I'm confused. It sounds as if you're saying that the gas pedal went limp, which tells me that the cable/linkage broke. But that wouldn't cause the engine to die or not start...
The check engine light was not on before it died and after I had it towed home the battery had died from trying to start it and having my phone charging while I was stranded in the middle of no where and since it died I took it out of the truck to have it charged. So I don't know if there are any codes but since it was disconnected from the battery wouldn't the codes be gone? When I try to start it the fan turns and the fan belt moves.
Posting in all capital letters is like yelling at people, not to mention it's painful to read (or a reason to stop reading the post). Just sayin' is all.
