It died on me.

Im currently stuck in a parking lot.

I came out from work to head home. Truck started and was running as usual while I waited for it to warm up. I was just about up to temperature when all of a sudden it dies.

My first thought is "oh ****" cuz my truck never just "dies".

I glance at the gauges quick and try to restart. It's just cranking and cranking.

I've got fuel, I've got power to the coil. I took the diz cap off and it looks all fine inside, cept the advance mechanism seems a little sticky.

I've got a buddy on his way to pull me home. I'll look at it more tomorrow.

if it just flat died- no sputtering/popping/grumbling on the way down- it sounds like an electrical problem.

2X Rusty. My 1st reaction when I read this was ignition switch or the wiring pluged in to it. Curious as to how you know you had power to the coil.

man oh man, my distributor is FUBAR!

the magnetic pickup tabs have basically self destructed, theres magnetic grindings and chunks all over inside.. I think the bearings went out too, the shaft is really hard to turn.

luckily it has a lifetime warranty, so its being shipped back right now... I think im going to a electronic distributor with a CDI box this time around...

I had all my tools with me last night so I spent a few minutes trouble shooting... ended up calling a friend to pull me the 3 miles back home...
